Where to Have Breakfast in S'Agaró
S'Agaró is different. It's not a tourist village with dozens of restaurants competing for your attention. It's a luxury residential estate, quiet, with noucentiste architecture from the 1920s and a spectacular Camí de Ronda. Breakfast options are limited — but that's precisely what makes this guide useful.
What is S'Agaró?
S'Agaró is a private estate built from 1923 by architect Rafael Masó, following the Catalan noucentiste style. It's one of the most important architectural ensembles in Catalonia: white villas with Mediterranean details, manicured gardens, and direct access to the sea.
What makes S'Agaró special:
- Protected architecture — Many buildings are heritage listed
- Residential atmosphere — No mass tourism
- The Camí de Ronda — The most beautiful stretch passes through here
- Sant Pol Beach — 3 minutes away, one of the best on the Costa Brava
- Hotel Hostal de la Gavina — Historic 5-star hotel, open since 1932
What S'Agaró is NOT:
- A village with a historic centre and shops
- An area with dozens of restaurants
- A mass tourism destination
This means breakfast options are limited. But the ones that exist are good.
Breakfast Options in S'Agaró
🐇 Dirty Rabbit
Avenida Platja d'Aro 275, S'Agaró · Google Maps
Dirty Rabbit is the go-to café in S'Agaró. Yes, we're writing this, so the bias is obvious. But we'll explain what we do and why.
The coffee: We serve La Cabra, the Danish roaster that's consistently among the best in the world. It's not just "good" coffee — it's single-origin coffee, traceable to the producer, processed with precision and roasted in Copenhagen. We prepare it on a La Marzocco KB90 with reverse osmosis filtered water — every variable controlled.
If coffee isn't your thing, we have REQ matcha (organic, real quality) and Awachai chai (spiced as it should be).
The food:
- Toast with Benfumat smoked salmon — The best smoked salmon in Catalonia, full stop
- Toast with avocado and eggs
- La Puntual pastries — Artisan bakery from Girona (croissants, pain au chocolat)
- Origo Bakery sourdough bread — Barcelona
- Yoghurt bowls with fresh fruit and granola
Every product is chosen with intention. We don't serve industrial brands.
The space: Cosy interior + terrace for sunny days. 3 minutes' walk from Sant Pol Beach. Have breakfast, go down to the water, come back for another coffee if you like.
What we call "the three pillars":
- Wild Comfort — Wild and cosy. Relaxed but with intention.
- Intention — Everything thought through, nothing random.
- Belonging — Your home away from home.
Languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, Polish. Menus available in Russian, French, Ukrainian.
Average price: €12–18 per person

Why Are There So Few Options in S'Agaró?
S'Agaró isn't a commercial village. It's a private estate, designed for residents and affluent holiday guests. There's no "village centre" with shops. The few dining options that exist are designed to serve that community — not to attract mass tourism.
This has advantages:
- Tranquility — No queues, no crowds
- Quality over quantity — The few places that exist make an effort
- Authentic atmosphere — No "tourist traps"
And disadvantages:
- Few options — If Dirty Rabbit is full, there aren't ten alternatives
- Limited hours — No 24-hour places
- You need to travel — For more variety, go to Sant Feliu or Platja d'Aro
