Brunch in S'Agaró

S'Agaró doesn't top the list when you search for brunch on the Costa Brava. But if you know where to look, you'll find something better than any tourist terrace in Platja d'Aro: a small specialty café, with real ingredients, 3 minutes from Sant Pol Beach.

S'Agaró: the context

S'Agaró is a residential urbanisation between Sant Feliu de Guíxols and Platja d'Aro. No fast food chains. No plastic restaurants with laminated menus in six languages. What there is: calm, the Camí de Ronda coastal path, Sant Pol Beach, and — since 2021 — Dirty Rabbit.

Brunch in S'Agaró, in practice, means Dirty Rabbit. Not because there are no options in nearby villages — there are — but because Dirty Rabbit is the only place in the urbanisation serving breakfasts and brunches with first-rate produce.

If you've been looking for a brunch on the Costa Brava that isn't generic, here it is.

The coffee

Dirty Rabbit serves La Cabra, the Danish roaster that's been among the best in the world for years. Prepared on a La Marzocco KB90 with reverse osmosis filtered water. Not marketing — it's the real difference you notice from the first sip.

We also serve REQ matcha (Japanese origin, sourced directly from plantations, based in Barcelona) and Awachai chai spiced as it should be. If you don't drink coffee, you have options of equivalent quality.

What to order

The brunch at Dirty Rabbit doesn't have a fixed menu — it's the combination of what's available each day. This is what you'll find regularly:

  • Toast with Benfumat smoked salmon — Benfumat is the best smoker in Catalonia. Sourdough from Origo Bakery (Barcelona), pink salmon, cream cheese, capers. The option ordered most by people who come back.
  • Avocado toast with poached egg — The Australian brunch classic, well executed. No unnecessary gimmicks.
  • La Puntual pastries — Artisan bakery from Girona. Croissant, pain au chocolat. Handmade, not industrial.
  • Yoghurt bowl with fresh fruit and granola — For those who want something lighter but equally well done.
  • Matcha latte or chai — As the main drink or alongside food. The orange matcha is particularly good in summer.

Average price: €15–22 per person (drink + main dish)

Booking required? No — first come, first served. In summer, if you arrive between 11:00 and 13:00 on a weekend, there may be a short wait.

The atmosphere

Dirty Rabbit isn't a brunch restaurant with a 40-dish menu and queues at the door. It's a specialty café serving quality breakfasts and brunch, at a calm pace.

The terrace faces Avenida Platja d'Aro. From there, Sant Pol Beach is 3 minutes on foot. This is the usual plan: coffee, toast, Sant Pol. If you haven't done the Camí de Ronda from Sant Feliu to Platja d'Aro yet, breakfast at Dirty Rabbit is the perfect starting point.

Languages: Spanish, Catalan, English, Polish. Menus in Russian, French, Ukrainian.
