DIRTY RABBIT · S'AGARÓ
The best chai latte near Sant Feliu de Guíxols
Saying "the best chai" anywhere is easy and says little. What we can say is what's in ours: organic masala chai from Awachai, a producer in Isère, France, made with a real spice blend — cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, clove, black pepper. Not syrup.
Dirty Rabbit is in S'Agaró, five minutes from Sant Feliu de Guíxols.
What makes a good chai latte
- Real masala chai has layers. It's not just sweet cinnamon — it's floral cardamom, ginger with heat, clove in the background, pepper that appears at the end. A concentrate flattens all of that into something generic and too sweet.
- Awachai isn't a name you'll know from Spain. We chose it because the blend is serious, not for any marketing reason. It's organic, produced in Isère, and the quality shows in the flavour.
- Dirty chai exists because it works. A shot of La Cabra espresso in a chai latte isn't a novelty — it's the option for people who want both. People who would never order chai on its own order it, and order it again.
Where to find good chai latte near Sant Feliu de Guíxols
Avinguda Platja d'Aro 275, S'Agaró. Five minutes from Sant Feliu along the GI-682.
We opened in November 2024. Awachai chai has been on the menu from day one. Three versions: classic chai latte (hot or iced), iced chai year-round, dirty chai with espresso. Plant milk in all versions. €3.50 to €5.
Sant Feliu has cafés. The ones serving chai mostly use syrup. That's a fact, not a judgment. If syrup works for you, there are options in town. If you want the spices, the detour is five minutes.
Why chai latte is everywhere but good chai is rare
Chai arrived in Spain before people really understood what it was. Masala chai is a spice blend with a long history in India — cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, clove, black pepper, sometimes star anise or black cardamom. Chai syrup is a simplification that trades complexity for convenience.
Not every customer notices the difference. But the ones who are looking for it notice it a lot.
Frequently asked questions about the best chai latte near Sant Feliu de Guíxols
Why do most chais in the area use syrup?
Syrup is cheaper, more consistent, and easier to use. A quality organic masala chai requires a specialist supplier and a bit more preparation time. Most cafés don't consider the difference worth the change.
Is it worth going from Sant Feliu to S'Agaró for a chai?
That depends on what you're after. If you want masala chai with real spices, Dirty Rabbit in S'Agaró is the nearest option. Five minutes.
Which version do you recommend if it's my first masala chai?
Classic hot if it's your first — you'll get the full spice profile without anything else in the way. Dirty chai if you already drink coffee and want to try the combination. Iced if it's warm or you just prefer cold drinks.
Does the iced chai have added sugar?
No sugar added by default. Awachai's masala has a natural sweetness from the spices. You can ask for it sweetened if you prefer.
Do you have parking at Dirty Rabbit?
Easy parking right across the road. Also a large terrace, WiFi, and good morning light.
