Best Specialty Coffee near Platja d'Aro
Platja d'Aro is synonymous with Costa Brava summer: kilometres of beach, a lively seafront promenade, and nightlife that never stops. But if you're after proper coffee — fresh roast aromas, well-textured milk, a barista who knows their craft — the game changes. Here's our honest guide.
☕ La Maglia — Local roastery in Platja d'Aro
C/ Juli Garreta, 10, Platja d'Aro · In the centre
If you're in central Platja d'Aro, La Maglia is a solid choice. They roast their own beans — 100% Arabica, SCA score above 85. The aesthetic is very cyclist-oriented (the name comes from the Giro d'Italia pink jersey), so you'll see plenty of gravel groups on Saturday mornings.
They also serve açaí bowls, pastries, and juices. Large terrace, good for a quick coffee.
Best for: Local roast — if you want something homegrown, it's a good shout.
☕ ANNNA — Coffee, GF bakery, and concept store
Carrer de l'Hospital 21, Sant Feliu de Guíxols · 7 min drive
Ana and Pascal have built something special in Casa Trachsler, a 19th-century townhouse in Sant Feliu's old town. ANNNA is specialty coffee, artisan gluten-free bakery, and concept store — all in one. Their GF sourdough is among the best we've tried, and the local product selection (oils, wines, ceramics) is worth a browse alone.
Open Thursday to Monday, 9:00–14:30. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday.
Best for: Toast with their artisan bread + a flat white. The space itself is beautiful.
🐇 Dirty Rabbit — The best specialty coffee in the area
Avenida Platja d'Aro 275, S'Agaró · 5 min drive from Platja d'Aro
If you want the best specialty coffee on the Costa Brava, it's worth the 5 minutes to S'Agaró.
We serve La Cabra — the Danish roaster that's been in the global specialty elite for years. This isn't "good" coffee — it's extraordinary: traceable to the farm, precision-processed, roasted in Copenhagen by one of the world's best teams. We prepare it on our La Marzocco KB90 with RO-filtered water — every variable controlled to bring out the best of the bean.
But Dirty Rabbit isn't just coffee. It's a place to sit with your book, have eggs benedict after a swim at Sant Pol, or end up chatting with the table next to you. We call it "home away from home" because that's exactly what we want it to be.
Why come from Platja d'Aro?
- 5 minutes by car via the S'Agaró road (GI-682). Easy parking outside peak season.
- 15 minutes by bike along the coast — perfect combined with a stop at Sant Pol Beach.
- 25 minutes walking via the Camí de Ronda if you fancy a spectacular route.
Our three pillars
- Wild Comfort — A place that's wild and cosy at once. Relaxed but intentional.
- Intention — Everything we do has a why. Every detail considered.
- Belonging — A place where you fit in. Wherever you're from, this is your home.
We speak Spanish, Catalan, English, and Polish — menus also in Russian, French, and Ukrainian.
