Brunch near Sant Pol Beach

Sant Pol Beach is one of the Costa Brava's hidden gems: fine sand, crystal-clear waters, and a quieter atmosphere than the nearby tourist beaches. But where can you have a good brunch before or after a swim? This guide covers everything you need to know about Sant Pol and the best places to eat in the area.

Sant Pol Beach: Everything You Need to Know

Where is it?

Sant Pol Beach (Platja de Sant Pol in Catalan) sits between S'Agaró and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, in the heart of the Costa Brava. It's roughly 800 metres long, facing southeast, protected from north winds by the S'Agaró cliffs.

Coordinates: 41.7905, 3.0275
Municipality: Officially part of Sant Feliu de Guíxols, though the northern section is in S'Agaró

Why is it special?

Unlike the more touristy beaches of Platja d'Aro or Lloret, Sant Pol maintains a more family-friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Here's why:

  • No large hotels directly on the beach
  • S'Agaró is residential — none of the overcrowding you find in tourist zones
  • The Camí de Ronda borders the beach, giving it a wilder feel
  • Crystal-clear waters — the orientation and lack of a nearby port keeps the water very clean

  2. S'Agaró streets — Residential area, limited
  3. Hotel Hostal de la Gavina car park — Hotel guests only

Tip: In summer, arrive before 10:00 or after 17:00. Or better: park in Sant Feliu and walk along the Camí de Ronda (20–25 minutes, beautiful views).

Best time to visit

  • Early morning (8:00–10:00): Ideal for runners, swimmers, people wanting a quiet beach
  • Mid-morning (10:00–12:00): Good for a swim + brunch afterwards
  • Midday (12:00–15:00): Peak sun, more crowded
  • Afternoon (17:00–20:00): Beautiful light, less heat, perfect for a stroll

Season: July and August are packed. June and September are ideal — good weather, fewer people. April, May and October are perfect if you don't mind cooler water.

Frequently asked questions

Can you eat on Sant Pol beach?

Yes. Villamás and Bar 245 are directly on the sand. But if you're after specialty coffee and quality brunch, the options are off the beach (Dirty Rabbit 3 min away, ANNNA 10 min by car).

Do I need to book at Dirty Rabbit?

Usually not for brunch — it's first come, first served. During high season (July–August), there might be a short wait at peak times (11:00–13:00). Come a bit earlier or later.

Can I bring children?

Absolutely. Sant Pol is a family beach: fine sand, calm waters, lifeguard in season. Dirty Rabbit has a terrace and is completely kid-friendly.

Are there vegan/vegetarian options?

At Dirty Rabbit: yes. We have meat-free options. For more vegan variety: Zero in Palamós or SHOTS Coffee in Girona.

How much is parking in summer?

The Sant Pol car park costs ~€2–3/hour in high season (July–August). It's usually cheaper in June and September. Free off-season.

Can I get there by public transport?

Sort of. The Sarfa bus connects Platja d'Aro with Sant Feliu, and you can get off near S'Agaró. But the Costa Brava doesn't have the best public transport — a car is most practical.

Our honest recommendation

If you're looking for the best brunch + beach experience near Sant Pol:

  1. Dirty Rabbit — For proper coffee, quality products, and an atmosphere that works whether you're coming from the beach or not. We're 3 minutes away.

  2. Villamás — If you want to eat with your feet in the sand and sea views. Better for Mediterranean lunch than coffee brunch.

  3. ANNNA — If you're coeliac or love design and don't mind a 10-minute drive.

After the beach (or before), pop into Dirty Rabbit — Avenida Platja d'Aro 275. We're 3 minutes from Sant Pol. La Cabra coffee, Benfumat smoked salmon toast, terrace to dry off in the sun. Your home away from home.
